Grape Stroll

The Pre-primary Grape Stroll

Connecting with friends from other classes  is always fun!

Snack time is always a favourite part of the Grade R routine.
It's especially good to have a picnic in the vineyards!

Boys refueling for the rest of the stroll!

It was fun exploring our beautiful and expansive campus too.

It is fun making play dough pictures.
We make pictures of the life cycle of insects.

We learnt about the life cycle of a snail too.  Somerset College snails are treasured. We love to collect them and make homes for them in our Fantasy Garden.
We learn to recite a poem about snails.

The Snail
All across the garden wall, silvery and bright
There's a line where a snail took a walk last night.
He came from the rockery for something to eat
And that would be his foot marks if a snail had feet.
Have you ever seen a snail, going off for walks - with his house on his back and his eyes on stalks?
Well, when he has finished he rolls them in his head and goes inside his tidy house, to tuck himself in bed!

Grant rolls the paper very carefully to make a stem for the sunflower.

Mrs. Webber loves our sunflowers. They are so bright and cheerful!

We  discussed root vegetables. We made a picture of vegetables under the ground. We also learn to tie knots. It was very hard for some of us!

We loved "The story of the Little Mole who knew it was None of his Business". It was  very funny story and gave us all a good laugh! We used playdough to make a picture about the story.
What a fantastic tower!  The boys cooperate with each other and are very pleased with themselves.
Reece and Caitlin made volcanoes out of salt dough.

Oops, our sandpit flooded - just like our classroom a week or so ago. Luckily there were a lot of children willing to help.
William and Lucas help with the clean up operation. Thank you boys!

Sunny days are fun days at school.
We arrived at the  Waterfront before Mrs. Burke's class. It felt like we had to wait a very long time before they arrived! Leandro got very tired of waiting!

f
Wow!! What a lot of beautiful stones!
Happiness is.......................... the Scratch Patch.

Caleb and Sasha sort through the stones to choose which ones they would like to keep. Descisions, descisions!

We made 'angels in the stones'. They felt cool.

Ewan says he wants to be a scientist when he grows up. He made a volcano at home. We also made volcanoes at school.

To make your volcano erupt you need:

food colouring
a sachet of Enos
Step 1
Fill the canister with water

We visited Mrs. Jerling in the Science room.
Mrs. Jerling gave us a lesson about rocks. She told us about igneous rocks and sandstone. She showed us a lot of different rocks. We learnt that the granite table tops in our bathrooms and kitchens are also made from rock. It was very interesting.
